Bushmaster M4 rifle

This 2006 Bushmaster M4 .223 caliber rifle was a Texas Department of Public Safety issued firearm. The Bushmaster M4 is a semi-automatic or fully automatic firearm modeled on the well-known AR-15 combat rifle. As criminals gain access to new weapons, the Texas Rangers must keep up with advances in technology. The M-4 Bushmaster rifle replaced the previously issued Ruger Mini-14 .223 caliber rifle. In 2011, the LaRue .308 assault rifle replaced the Bushmaster M4 as the latest high-caliber standard issue firearm for the Texas Rangers.
